The mood and music project connects researchers from the fields of music information retrieval (MIR), human-computer interaction (HCI), psychology and cognitive science. Our aim is to investigate emotional and visual aspects of music cognition, and the effects that mood and emotions have on individual's preferences in music. Our practical goal is the construction of intelligent and intuitive music recommender system that services user's emotional, visual and musical preferences.
We collected a dataset of users' responses to music through emotions and colors, as well as their perception of emotions through colors. In our recent work, we published the dataset about 7000 responses from 741 users which is publicly available.
To bring the data closer to everyday user, we created a visualization of the Moodo dataset with interactive and adjustable graphs. The visualization can be found here: Visualisation of the Moodo dataset.
