  • Project name: Razvoj programske podpore procesu usposabljanja strokovnjakov za opravljanje zahtevnih razgovorov z otroki
  • Date: 2024-2026
  • Code: V2-24011

The project is aimed at developing a digital tool to improve the training of professionals conducting forensic interviews with minors and children. Given the sensitive nature of these interviews and strict legal regulations in Slovenia, traditional training methods, such as live role-playing, often have limited scalability and effectiveness.

We introduce a virtual, avatar-based platform that simulates realistic interview scenarios and provides a more scalable and flexible training solution. A pilot project, developed in collaboration with the Children's house, has received highly positive feedback from early adopters. The tool enables the trainer to control the appearance, emotions and actions of the avatar. Using Live Link Face, the trainer can control the avatar's facial expressions, making the simulation even more realistic. In addition, communication in text form between the trainer, the student and the observer is enabled to facilitate the learning process.

Encouraged by the success of the pilot project, we are now expanding the project in partnership with additional institutions:

  • Ministry of Justice
  • Ministry of the Interior
  • Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities
  • Ministry of Education
  • Ministry of Health

In addition to new features such as training session recording for educational purposes and an expanded selection of avatars and interview environments, the key upgrade will be voice modification. This feature will enable adults to alter their voices to resemble children's, making the training experience even more realistic and immersive.

The authors acknowledge the financial support from the state budget by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (project No. V2-24011).
