  • Project name: TeachXR
  • Date: July 2024 – April 2026
  • Website: www.teachxr.si
  • Financing: The investment is part of the actions of the Slovenian Recovery and Resilience Plan, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.

TeachXR focuses on the exploration and deployment of advanced virtual, augmented and extended reality technologies in primary and secondary schools.

The project will provide teachers with the necessary skills to develop content and integrate XR technologies into the learning process in order to improve the quality of education. The setting up of learning labs and tailor-made training sessions will expose participants to XR technologies and at the same time allow them to build on the knowledge acquired after the project has ended, thus ensuring the sustainability of XR solutions in the school environment.

TeachXR opens the door to the future of education, where students and teachers will explore new dimensions of learning and creativity together.

Lingoverse

We have developed LingoVerse, an innovative open-world role-playing game (RPG) for immersive language learning. Its main goal is to improve players’ language skills by directly engaging with the target language through interactive tasks. The player navigates through the virtual world using VR controllers, freely exploring different environments, interacting with objects to reinforce vocabulary and playing mini-games that improve vocabulary through associative learning. The interactive language learning tool is based on the premise of linking text elements in the foreign language with corresponding objects and engaging in conversations with non-player characters (NPCs) in the virtual world so that the user can learn the language intuitively. The game currently offers scenarios for learning German with an interactive interface in English.

We have also implemented the Powerful Intuitive Node/Narrative Assistant (PINA) system for dialog systems. PINA allows us to design complex dialogs with multiple choices and actions for dynamic NPC interactions. The dialogs are designed through a visual interface, making it easy to test dialog scenarios without the need for additional programming. This feature also allows teachers to contribute new content to the application without the need for in-depth programming knowledge.
